Greater Valley Forge Rhodesian Ridgeback
Club Proudly Presents A TRACKING
SEMINAR with BEVERLEY OLSEN And GVFRRC GENERAL
MEETING Sunday,
September 19, 2010
GVFRRC is proud to present a
Tracking Seminar with Beverley Olsen. Beverley
has worked with dogs all her life and has been tracking for more than 20 years.
In 1997, she became one of the first, if not the first, to put a TDX on a
rescue Greyhound when less than 10 had ever achieved this prestigious title.
To add to this milestone, the majority of the Greyhounds earning a TDX at
that time had been bred and raised to show and compete unlike Bev’s rescue. Beverley’s no-nonsense
approach and supportive demeanor seem to have a positive effect on all the dogs
she works with. She has personally
handled and titled a variety of breeds including Cardigan Welsh Corgi, Pembroke
Welsh Corgi, Greyhound, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Cairn Terrier, Papillon, Standard
Poodle and Border Collie. Beverley’s
empowering touch carries on with her students.
She has successfully trained nearly twenty people who achieved a TD and
some even a TDX on breeds such as Golden Retriever, Labrador Retriever, Cardigan
Welsh Corgi, Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Norfolk Terrier, German
Sheppard, Doberman Pincher, Rottweiler
and Schipperke. Beverley
shares a bit about her background in her own words: “My name is Beverley Olsen, I have had
dogs all of my life. My main breed is the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, but I also
have a rescued greyhound. I do everything with my dogs, Conformation,
Obedience, Rally, Agility, Herding and Tracking; tracking being my first love.
I started tracking in 1990, got my first TD in April 1991.
December of 2002 I retired from a real job, working in a doctor’s office.
Once I retired I got into tracking full time. I
give lessons and have done individual training, group classes as well as
seminars. All of my own dogs have TD’s and my first greyhound had a TDX.
Over the years I have personally handled 15 dogs to their TD’s, 6 of those
dogs were my own and 9 of them were dogs I trained and handled for others.
I have had numerous students who have gotten their TD’s and a few that have
gone on to TDX’s. My 2 current dogs, a Cardigan Welsh Corgi and a
Greyhound are in training for their TDX, the Cardigan is ready to go and the
Greyhound is working on it. We have recently added a Labrador Retriever to
our family. He is currently 8
months old and is tracking up a storm. Like I said, Tracking is what my life is
all about. I love it.
Bev Olsen”
